Curry to miss Hong Kong Sevens

Wellington - New Zealand Sevens captain Scott Curry has been sidelined for the weekend's Hong Kong Sevens tournament after coming down with flu.

DJ Forbes will take over the captaincy and has a wealth of experience in the role, having skippered the side for ten years from 2006 to 2016.

Meanwhile, 27-year-old forward Sam Dickson has been drafted in to replace Curry who coach Scott Waldrom believes is 'a more than adequate replacement.'

"Unfortunately for us Scott has been ruled out of this weekend’s tournament with an illness.

"It is always a big loss losing your captain so close to kick-off but on the positive side we welcome back the experienced Sam Dickson into the 12, who is a more than adequate replacement," said All Blacks Sevens Head Coach Scott Waldrom.
