Cape Town - Blitzboks skipper Philip Snyman has thanked fans for their support after his side won last week’s Dubai Sevens.
It was a great start to the season for Snyman, who took over the captaincy duties for the 2016/17 World Rugby Sevens Series from Kyle Brown.
South Africa defeated Fiji 26-14 in the Cup Final in Dubai to take the early lead in the series standings. They were on song in Dubai, thrashing arch-rivals New Zealand 40-0 in the quarter-finals, before also thumping Wales 36-5 in the semi-finals.
Speedster Seabelo Senatla was named Player of the Tournament, while he and team-mate Werner Kok also cracked the nod for the Dubai Dream Team.
Snyman took to Twitter on Monday to thank the team’s supporters but assured that their focus has now shifted to this weekend’s second leg at Cape Town Stadium where the Blitzboks are the defending champions.
