Kenya recall Sevens skipper

Nairobi - Kenya on Wednesday recalled former Sevens rugby captain Humphrey Kayange to the squad for the fourth and fifth IRB World Series in New Zealand and the USA.

The 29-year-old Kayange quit the team last November to concentrate on his studies after being admitted to Bristol University but his departure to the UK has been delayed.

"Humphrey is a leader and mentor, his guidance to the younger players will greatly help the team. We have talked to Bristol University, where he is scheduled to be heading to, and have engaged his services for these two legs," said Kenya Rugby Union chairman Mwangi Muthee.

Other inclusions include former IRB Sevens top try scorer Collins Injera and Lavin Asego, who missed out on the opening rounds due to academic and work commitments.

The Kenya Sevens team have struggled to improve on their past success in the World Series, finishing ninth overall in 2011.
