Kaizer Chiefs get rugby team

Cape Town - South African soccer giants, Kaizer Chiefs, have registered a rugby team for the upcoming Sevens Premier League (7sPL) tournament in George.

According to Rapport, Chiefs enrolled a team for the multi-million rand event last Wednesday after negotiations with promoter Willem Strauss proved successful.

The official announcement is only expected to be made on Monday, with former Springbok centre Gcobani Bobo set coach the Amakhosi team.

Another former Bok Breyton Paulse looks likely to captain the side, with active professional players and a few recently retired SA Sevens stars also set to be included.

The tournament takes place from December 14-15 and will feature all six South African Super Rugby franchises, as well as marquee names such as Shane Williams (Wales), Ben Gollings (England), Brent Russell (SA), Fabian Juries (SA) and Alafoti Fa'osiliva (Samoa).
