Fiji victorious in Hong Kong

Hong Kong - Fiji won the Hong Kong Sevens on Sunday in a tight match against New Zealand 35-28, putting them on course for the world series title.

Fiji had the best of the play in the first half, but New Zealand stuck in with two tries from Mark Jackman to go into the break equal at 14-14.

But in the second half Fiji's precise passing and pace was too much for the Kiwis.

The Fijians looked in top form from the start of the three-day event in a packed and colourful Hong Kong Stadium, breezing through their group matches and making light work of Argentina 26-7 in the quarters.

In what England coach Ben Ryan had called a "titanic battle" in the semis, Fiji won 14-7, before wining the final to give them a record 13 victories in Hong Kong.
