Cape Town - Springbok Sevens captain Paul Delport was on Wednesday ruled out of rugby for 10 weeks after sustaining an injury during the Emirates Airline SA Sevens tournament in George last weekend.
Delport sustained a 'syndesmosis' injury to his left ankle during the Boks' match against Zimbabwe on Day 1 of the George event.
The Bok Sevens medical team also confirmed that Delport is also suffering from an osteochondroma injury on his upper arm bone.
The expected recovery period is approximately 10 - 12 weeks and as a result, Delport will not be considered for selection for the New Zealand and USA leg of the IRB Sevens World Series.
