Blitzbokke clobber Kenya

Port Elizabeth - Hometown hero Steven Hunt scored four tries as the Blitzbokke romped to a 45-0 victory over Kenya to maintain their undefeated run at the PE Sevens.

Picking up on their 33-0 win over Canada earlier in the day, the Blitzbokke turned on the heat to demolish the Kenyans, who are a shadow of the side that troubled so many teams in recent years on the IRB Circuit It all builds towards a climactic finale this evening when the Blitzbokke will attempt to avenge their Emirates Airline Dubai Sevens Plate final loss to Australia.

But on a chilly evening the Blitzbokke knew nothing about the cold as they produced a performance that will make coach Paul Treu proud.

Hunt added his name to the scoresheet after just 90 seconds and linked well with Cecil Afrika to score again in the 4th, 6th and 9th minutes of the game, while the rest of the side all chipped in with excellent performances in the one-sided affair.

Afrika though, provided the highlight as he sold a perfect dummy before sprinting ahead, beating three players in a 60 metre run for the line that had the crowd on their feet.

The Blitzbokke’s final match on day one will be at 20.38, where they will face the Australians in the final game of the day. The winner will meet the loser of the New Zealand/France game in the quarterfinals on Saturday.
