Afrika set to break SA record

Cape Town - Blitzbokke speedster Cecil Afrika is on the verge of becoming South Africa's leading point scorer on the Sevens World Series circuit.

Afrika, 26, needs only 11 points to equal Fabian Juries's record of 925 points when he takes to the field in Port Elizabeth this weekend.

The Blitzbokke face America, Kenia and Wales in their pool games on Saturday and the chances are good that Afrika could break the record in of those games.

Afrika is currently second on the list of all-time scorers for South Africa, with Mzwandile Stick third on 885.

The Blitzbokke will be eager to keep their good form in front of their home fans after winning the Dubai Sevens last weekend.

They are also the defending champions at the Nelson Mandela Bay Sevens.
