The new CEO will succeed Johan Prinsloo, following the restructuring of the organisation on January 1 when the commercial arm of South African rugby – SA Rugby (Pty) Ltd – was dissolved back into SARU.
The operational arms of the organisation are currently being re-combined.
Prinsloo will remain as CEO until a new appointment is made after which Oregan Hoskins, president of the South African Rugby Union, said Prinsloo would be re-deployed into the SARU structures in order to ensure that his experience is not lost for the future of the organisation.
“Johan has a wealth of experience in rugby both as CEO of the Golden Lions and more recently as CEO of SARU and it would be wasteful to throw that all away,” he said.
“We are talking to him about his future and we will tap into that experience and those contacts in the future.”
The closing date for applications is May 12 and the process is being handled by an external recruitment agency.
The final decision on the appointment of a new CEO will rest with the General Council of the South African Rugby Union.
