Sadie to miss start of CC

Johannesburg - The Vodacom Blue Bulls will start their Absa Currie Cup campaign against Griquas on Friday night without the services of midfielder Johann Sadie and hooker Bongi Mbonambi.

Both players, who played Super Rugby for the Bulls in 2012, are yet to make their Blue Bulls debuts, but will have to wait a little longer before being able to do so.

Blue Bulls team doctor Org Strauss confirmed on Monday that Sadie will only be available next week as he is still recovering from an ankle injury, while Mbonambi, who has an ankle ligament strain, will be out for another four weeks.

Strauss earlier in the month ruled out Fudge Mabeta for two to three months with a knee injury and Bjorn Basson, suffering an intestinal tear, who will be out for six weeks.

There was better news on Jean Cook's knee injury.

"Jean will train on Tuesday after recovering from a grade one medial tear to his knee and should be declared fit after that," Strauss said.
