Sydney - Sonny Bill Williams has set his sights on a gold medal at the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro in Sevens Rugby.
According to the Sydney Morning Herald website, Williams will return to rugby league this year with the Sydney Roosters in the hopes of playing for New Zealand in the 2013 Rugby League World Cup in the United Kingdom.
Williams, who will fight former heavyweight champion South African Francois Botha on February 8 for the WBA international heavyweight title, will have no contractual obligations after his season ends with the Roosters.
Although Williams is said to be open-minded about whether to play league or rugby union in 2014, it is understood he intends to return to the XV-man code in the hopes of making the All Blacks team to defend their Rugby World Cup title in England in 2015.
In 2016, Williams will shift his attention to boxing and sevens rugby with the hopes of gaining an Olympic gold medal, before setting his sights on a professional boxing career.
Williams and his manager Khoder Nasser refused to discuss their long-term plans directly, with Williams saying he didn't want to look too far ahead and only considered ''what was going to get the best out of me and where I am going to be happy".
But Williams said he was motivated by the desire to challenge himself.
"When I am finished, I just want to say I have tried lots of things, and I've done as well as I can."
It is understood that Williams' ultimate goal is a unique hat-trick of rugby titles including Union and League World Cup titles, as well as Olympic glory in Sevens, before becoming a full-time boxer.
