SARU welcomes new sponsor

Cape Town - The South African Rugby Union (SARU) on Wednesday welcomed Klipdrift into its sponsorship family at a launch event at the famous brandy distillery in Robertson.

Jurie Roux, SARU CEO, said he was delighted to announce a new sponsorship, especially in difficult financial times.

“We are very fortunate to have a number of extremely keen sponsors as part of our family and we’re excited to be working with Klipdrift for the next five years,” said Roux.

“South African hospitality and generosity are synonymous with Klipdrift and SARU is excited to have them join the SARU sponsorship family.”

The sponsorship sees two iconic South African household names coming together with Klipdrift signing a five-year sponsorship deal with SARU to become the official brandy supplier to the Springboks. The announcement was made at the Klipdrift Brandy Distillery and marks the company’s first involvement with a leading South African national team.

The deal includes exclusive product rights within their category, pouring rights at SARU functions, the right to distribute premiums, which allows Klipdrift exclusive branding and commercial rights to point of sale product, as well as branding rights in advertising campaigns.

Wim Buhrmann, CEO of Distell South Africa, believes that rugby has the power to unite everyone on a level playing field, especially here in South Africa.

“Klipdrift and Springbok rugby are both iconic brands that embody optimism, strong traditional heritage and above all are proudly South African. This combination makes Klipdrift very proud and excited to be welcoming the Springboks into the Distell family, a relationship that will only be nurtured with the greatest of respect and pride,” commented Buhrmann.
