Johannesburg - South Africa will play Kazakhstan on Wednesday in the first play-off match at the Women's Rugby World Cup tournament at Guildford in England.

The SA Women finished ninth on the overall standing with four league points thanks to their solitary win over Wales. A good result against Kazakhstan, whom the South Africans beat earlier this year in a two-match series, should set them up with a possible rematch with Wales (v Sweden), who finished tenth.

England and New Zealand avoided each other in the semi-finals after they finished first and second respectively. The hosts now face Australia in the main match at Twickenham Stoop while reigning WRWC champions New Zealand squares up against France other semi-final.

South Africa was drawn in the toughest pool for this tournament and their inability to secure a bonus point against Wales meant Scotland and the USA pipped them to a higher position.

Meanwhile, there was good news regarding the injury of centre Charmaine Kayser, who left the field on a stretcher after suffering a blow to the head on Saturday. She spent the night under observation in a nearby hospital but was reunited with her team mates on Sunday morning.

The final and last play-off matches take place next Saturday.

The final points standing:

1. England (15 points)
2. New Zealand (15)
3. France (13)
4. Australia (10)
5. Canada (10)
6. Ireland (10)
7. USA (5)
8. Scotland (5)
9. South Africa (4)
10. Wales (1)
11. Sweden (1)
12. Kazakhstan (0)
