London - The Barbarians have confirmed a star-studded line-up, including uncapped South African WP Nel, to take on the All Blacks at Twickenham on December 5.

House-hold names, including Wallaby flyhalf Matt Giteau and Springboks Bryan Habana, Fourie du Preez and Victor Matfield, have been included in the Barbarians' 22-man squad to play New Zealand next month.

All Black wing Joe Rokocoko will also feature for the invitational side.

Matfield will be making his BaaBaas debut.

Free State Cheetahs star Nel was widely tipped to earn a Springbok call up for the end-of-year tour but, after missing out on that selection, will be the Barbarians' uncapped representative at the home of English rugby next Saturday.

Taking charge of the squad's preparations will be Italy's national coach Nick Mallett, assisted by Alan Solomons. Mallett played for the Barbarians against Leicester in 1979 while Solomons coached the club on their triumphant summer tour in 2003 which featured victories over England, Scotland and Wales.

Barbarians squad:

Backs:
Leigh Halfpenny (Wales), Bryan Habana (South Africa), Joe Rokocoko (New Zealand), Drew Mitchell (Australia), Jamie Roberts (Wales), Jaque Fourie (South Africa), Morne Steyn (South Africa), Matt Giteau (Australia), Fourie du Preez (South Africa), Will Genia (Australia)

Forwards:
Bismarck du Plessis (South Africa), Stephen Moore (Australia), Tendai 'Beast' Mtawarira (South Africa), WP Nel (Free State Cheetahs), Salvatore Perugini (Italy), Victor Matfield (South Africa), Danie Rossouw (South Africa), Carlo del Fava (Italy), Rocky Elsom (Australia), Schalk Burger (South Africa), George Smith (Australia), Andy Powell (Wales)

Hi Cheetah, relax my friend, it's called a sense of humour.

So the Boks are tired, are they?! Amazing how money can remove that "tiredness"!! They should be ashamed of themselves!

Treanselate Mallet to Afrikaans that is why we lost the 1999 world cup.Victor should withdraw.

Springbok Fan: @SOnly 5 N-hemisphere players in the match 22 and no boorish irish or english or french!!! For shame, Springbok Fan. I thought you'd include the South Africans in that as well - you are after all the real Boers!! Boom boom! The Baa-baas are mainly SH players because it's their end of season - NH players will be playing in normal club or cup matches on the same day. That's the reason there are so few.

DR. Not sure which games you have been following. Adi Jacobs is not even close to the best center in SA. I am surprised that he was chosen to go on the end of year tour.

Heinrich B and Jean Dysel should be there - otherwise good!
Tony11/24/2009 6:51 PM
You guys do realise this is not picking the best 22 players outside the kiwis for the game. Its invitation and Burger has been there before and will be again. Funny all you guys asking where is this guy etc, its not like that. I just hope they are better than last year when had 10 saffirs in team and played the worst game of baabaas rugby ever playing boring saffir kick chase rugby.
ab11/24/2009 4:39 PM
why is steyn in the squad? the baabaas play running rugby not a 10 man game! wheres shane williams and o'driscoll? and i agree brussouw can count himself unlucky. all blacks to win!
MR MERIT11/24/2009 4:10 PM
Disappointed !!! How did useless Jacobs and Magic Rose miss out ?Maybe they too tired of making k*k !!!
Viljoen11/24/2009 4:03 PM
they want to make it a competitive game thats why Brussow isnt there else the BaaBaas would win too easily.
Peet11/24/2009 3:55 PM
DR11/24/2009 3:32 PM
Why was our top centre, Adi Jacobs left out.
Bokkie11/24/2009 3:29 PM
It is not good for our top guy's to play so much rugby, why not taking the second stream players to be part of the Ba bas
Met Uysh!11/24/2009 3:28 PM
Excellent squad!
WOW11/24/2009 3:13 PM
10 SOUTH AFRICANS OUT OF 22!!!!! WELL DONE BOOITJIES!!!!
Ernst11/24/2009 2:32 PM
Het gedink spelers is moeg en speel te veel wedstryde. Victor Matfield "gespaar" in teen Italië om hom rus kans te gee ????
Banana11/24/2009 2:31 PM
These guys are going to be buggered after this tour...
Benjy1511/24/2009 2:27 PM
The BaaBaas used to be made up of UK players but because their clubs are to scared of injury for 'mickey mouse' games, they import southern hemisphere players.
JV11/24/2009 2:19 PM
Too many stars... won't gel as a team.
Ace11/24/2009 2:00 PM
Pair Jean de Villiers with Brian O'Driscoll !
Kolle11/24/2009 1:56 PM
What are the Barbarians thinking, how in hell did they leave out Brussow.............
robert barrie11/24/2009 1:55 PM
spelers is maar ook maar mens - geld bly koning. omdat hulle kontrakte het probeer hulle die minste moontlike wedstryde speel - in wek noem ons dit lui maar as hulle vir die baabaas kan speel doen hulle dit - lekker ekstra geld.
hein11/24/2009 1:55 PM
5 Bulls in the team .mooi man
Alan Ingram SA11/24/2009 1:55 PM
i agree "where is Heinrich Brusow? But look at who are coaching the Baa-Baa's...both Cape town 'boys' that is why Burger is in and Heinrich is out. Verdict.. i hope they get a hiding from the All Blacks
D the M11/24/2009 1:54 PM
would love to see this team play after a month or 2 of coaching...giteau at flyhalf with roberts and fourie at centre! Not sure there's a real fullback in this team - but they are supposed to play running rugby, so a back three of habana, rokocoko and halfpenny would be awesome (or morne is they want a kicker)...I do hope they pick genia ahead of du preez...maybe not yet quite as good, but du preez needs a rest...and I dont like the fact that our aging locks are having to play yet another game...these guys more than the others need a rest, they have had 10+ years of quality rugby pounding them...
Herb11/24/2009 1:50 PM
Great looking team...hope they dont fall asleep on the field.
D11/24/2009 1:46 PM
Apparently not too tired to earn a few extra Euros before Xmas. All the ingredients for a spectacular match though!
SPRINGBOK FAN11/24/2009 1:46 PM
Only 5 N-hemisphere players in the match 22 and no boorish irish or english or french!!!
Eugene11/24/2009 1:39 PM
Waar is Heinrich Brusow??? Lost Schalk maar by die huis!!
@wayne11/24/2009 1:36 PM
I couldn't agree more. What a team indeed
Brandon11/24/2009 1:34 PM
What I find amusing is how we are always peddled how much rugby these guys play (and they really do play too much), but then come a Baa-Baa's game many of our top guys are involved? Someone explain it to me please.
me11/24/2009 1:25 PM
I thought everyone was TIRED!!!!!!!!
