Johannesburg - President Jacob Zuma is expected to attend the opening ceremony and match of the Rugby World Cup in New Zealand.
New Zealand High Commissioner to South Africa Geoff Randal said on Tuesday that Zuma was going to attend the opening ceremony and match on September 9, in Auckland.
Randal, who earlier addressed the Johannesburg Press Club, did not provide further details of Zuma's visit and said that the presidency would provide the details.
Confirmation of Zuma's trip from the presidency could not be immediately obtained.
Randal said the mission had experienced increased interest by South Africans, especially from fans checking to confirm that they did not need visas to visit the country.
He said that while airlines and accommodation establishments had initially hiked their prices, this phenomenon had abated in recent weeks.
Visitors were also "being more creative" when it came to seeking accommodation.
The battle for the Webb Ellis Cup kicks off on September 9.
It was not known whether Zuma would attend the Springboks opening against Wales, in a pool D match, in Wellington on September 11.
