Tweet and Picture of the Day

Cape Town - Twitter burst into life with news relating to the Rugby World Cup as the Springboks defeated Samoa in a pulsating, highly charged match at the North Harbour Stadium.

Today's tweets feature a Protea, TV personality as well as a journalist and a blogger while the Picture of the Day tells a story of media battle within the media industry.

Protea all-rounder, Albie Morkel (@albiemorkel) hinted that the New Zealand folk are starting to play their mind games, putting in a few early shots before a prospective clash with the Springboks in the semi-finals.
“(Sic) Good luck to the Boks today, will at training so won't see the whole game. Thanks S Fleming," tweeted Morkel in reference to his New Zealand-born coach and former Black Caps captain, Stephen Fleming.

Morning breakfast television host and local TV personality Katlego Maboe(@KatlegoMaboe) blamed the jerseys for the Boks sudden drop in performance from the Namibian match in their close win over Samoa.
“(Sic) Sjoe, we just just made that one. I say blame it on the jerseys. They made us look and play like England! #GoBokke”

Meanwhile, rugby journalist, Gareth Duncan (@Gareth_Duncan_) noted that he may have picked up what many have been thinking all along during the match.
“(Sic) I just saw how the coaching setup works now. Rassie taps PdV on the shoulder, gives the message. Then PdV does the order #Glorifiedmanager,” tweeted Duncan.

Blogger, Richard de Nooy (@RicharddeNooy) tweeted in response to all the anti-Islander tweets floating around the microblogging site, tweeting:
“(Sic) These nasty comments about Samoa are all driven by island envy. South Africa only has one island, which was put to bad use. #RWC2011”

Today's Picture of the Day features two globetrotting, über-fanatical Bok supporters caught on camera at the Bok's match against Samoa with a little something extra (if you can spot it) to show their support, tweeted by sports presenter, Xola Ntshinga (@Crouchtouch).
"SA supporters at the match...doing their bit...priceless!"
