Tweet and Pic of the Day

Cape Town - The first installment of "Tweet and Pic of the Day" sees most of our selected tweets focusing on the Rugby World Cup opening ceremony.

Springbok vice-captain Victor Matfield (@VictorMatfield) made his opinion about the team's World Cup chances known early this morning when he said: See there's a lot of clever people out there making predictions. For us its just focusing on what we can control. Taking it day for day."

Springbok eighthman Pierre Spies (@Pierrespies) was one of the first South Africa players to tweet about the ceremony. "(Sic)Opening of #RWC2011!!time has come & excitement grows here in NZ-sure its booming in SA too!enjoy this journey with us evryone-God Bless"

Former Springbok flank and current Eastern Province Kings captain Luke Watson (@lukewatson6) joked about the red and black jersey being worn by the boy in the opening ceremony. (Sic)That kid is wearing an EP Kings jersey…  Nice ; )”

Ireland centre Andrew Trimble (@andrew_trimble) also made mention to the ceremony's young star when he tweeted; “this kid reminds me of myself as a youngster! #rwc”

Springbok wing Breyton Paulse (@BreytonPaulse)was overcome with emotion during the ceremony. (Sic)Its the world in union,goosebumps,New Zealanders should be more then proud,what an opening so far,emotional stuff!”

Wallabies and Queensland Reds flyhalf Quade Cooper (@QuadeCooper) admired the fireworks display from his hotel room. "(Sic)Some awesome fireworks off sky tower and the world cup is just about underway! Going to be an epic start.....".

Controversial, South African-born England international cricketer Kevin Pietersen (@kevinpp24) mentioned Springbok flyhalf Butch James in one of his Rugby World Cup related tweets. "(Sic)I want ENG to win the RWC but want my mate @butch_james to somehow be Player Of The Tournament.. #loverugby”

The Picture of the Day was tweeted by radio personality Guy McDonald (@GuyMcDonald) and features Playboy model Yolandi Malherbe (@JuicyJemma) wearing nothing hut a thin layer of paint on her upper body.
