Robinson ruled out of RWC

Sydney - Australia's front-row stocks for the Rugby World Cup have taken a serious blow, with Benn Robinson to be sidelined for the rest of 2011 with an injured knee.

The 26-year-old Robinson hurt his knee in a practice run ahead of Australia's season-opening Test and scans on Wednesday revealed he would require surgery to repair his torn anterior cruciate ligament.

Wallabies coach Robbie Deans says it is a setback for Australia, but is confident Australia had enough quality options to cover.

Deans said "the seemingly innocuous circumstances in which it occurred only adds to the frustration" but added "I'm sure the other front rowers we have will step up to fill the void Benn leaves."
