Odds on a Tri-Nations winner

Cape Town - As the final countdown to the Rugby World Cup draws ever closer, it seems that the odds are favouring a Tri-Nations team to walk away with the Webb Ellis Cup come October 23.

Whilst hosts New Zealand are the overwhelming favourites, according to Bet.co.za’s latest odds, at 13/20, Robbie Deans's Australia are in at 4/1 while the Springbok punters will see value in placing a bet on their team at 65/10 to win the World Cup.

When it comes to European countries, you have to go all the way down to 14/1 to 2003 Rugby World Cup champions England while the inconsistent French, at 16/1 will try and prove their critics wrong at the business end of the tournament.

Ireland at 33/1 and Wales at 66/1 might be a tad bit far-fetched, but you never know what might happen at a Rugby World Cup, when the pressure is well and truly on.
