Cape Town - Five lucky Springboks fans from Cape Town have won the holiday of a lifetime and claimed the title of SuperFans.
Johan de Wet, Oliver Ivan Greeff, Jan Paul Carstens, Gideon Jacobus Burger and Anthonie Jacobus Lombard have won an all-expenses-paid trip to the 2011 Rugby World Cup in New Zealand, courtesy of Castle Lager.
The five friends claimed the prize by pushing a bakkie filled with 46 cases of Castle Lager over a 40 metre course and doing so faster than four other teams from around the country.
Errol Madlala, Sponsorship Manager for Castle Lager, said that he hoped the competition would help unite South Africa behind the Springboks in the run up to the World Cup.
“This exciting journey Castle Lager has set on to find the ultimate Springbok SuperFans has started something greater than just a trip to New Zealand,” said Madlala.
“As September draws closer, we’d like to remind every South African that it is time to come together and rally behind the boys and help them on their way to glory. Congratulations to the winning team, we look forward to seeing you in New Zealand.”
The competition took place during half-time break of the Springboks Tri-Nations match against at the All Blacks at the Nelson Mandela Bay stadium on Saturday 20 August.
