Boks bid fond farewell

Johannesburg - The Springbok team is in high spirits as they prepare to bid a fond farewell to the people of South Africa.

Nelson Mandela square is packed with thousands of Springbok supporters and well-wishers to watch the team make an onstage appearance before travelling with a group of lucky supporters to OR Tambo Airport.

As the Springboks packed their bags and prepared to say their last goodbyes they took a few moments on Twitter to send messages out to the fans:

“The fans farewell” joint initiative is the brainchild of SARU, Lead SA, SuperSport, Absa and the Department of Sport and Recreation.

SARU president Oregan Hoskins said it was “an opportunity to show the team that they the country is united behind them”, and to let the fans share in the Rugby World Cup excitement with their stars.

The event is being broadcast live at 17:00 on radio stations such as Talk Radio 702, 94.7 Highveld Stereo, KFM and CapeTalk and is being be shown live on SuperSport.
