Bok's RWC jersey unveiled

Cape Town - Canterbury and the South African Rugby Union have launched their revolutionary new jersey that will be worn by Peter de Villiers’s men at the Rugby World Cup in New Zealand later this year.

The shirt, which incorporates gold detailing and iconic victory dates on the right arm, features the new Loop 21 collar design and latest fabric technology, providing South Africa with the best possible on-field support and making it the strongest jersey that Canterbury have ever produced. As reigning world champions, the Springboks are equipped with the latest technological advancements to support their quest to retain glory.

The construction of the jersey and fabric positioning improve player’s ability to evade tackles and provide position support to enhance movement.

Chris Stephenson, Canterbury CEO, commented: “The new kit is our most sophisticated to date and as always, we have relished the challenge to release a tougher yet lighter jersey that will be showcased at this year’s Rugby World Cup.  We are proud to be associated with South Africa throughout the Rugby World Cup and it is our privilege to support them in the best way we can, with what we believe is the best jersey a player can wear. We look forward to seeing them in action in New Zealand later this year.”

Jurie Roux, CEO of SARU, said: “The Springboks were extensively involved in the design of the jersey and in its testing and assessment of its epical features and they were more than happy with the outcome. A rugby jersey is one of the key tools of a player’s trade and having one that works to give them that fractional advantage on the field is another way of maximising their ability to perform.”

Fans have their opportunity to purchase the RWC 2011 jersey from www.canterburysa.co.za as well as selected retailers. This also includes the new national jersey featuring the new Springboks sponsor, ABSA.
