Auckland -The All Blacks sent their best wishes for legendary wing Jonah Lomu to make a quick recovery on Sunday after he was hospitalised with a kidney problem.
Assistant coach Steve Hansen said the team's thoughts were with the World Cup great, who is in a stable condition in Auckland Hospital's kidney ward, according to reports.
"I heard that this morning, which is really sad news. Our thoughts are with the big fella and hopefully he makes a speedy recovery," Hansen told journalists.
The Herald newspaper on Sunday said that the Auckland District Health Board had confirmed that the giant winger was in the hospital's renal and liver transplant ward, but released no further details on his condition.
Lomu was diagnosed with the kidney disorder nephrotic syndrome in 1995 and in 2004 he received a kidney transplant with the donor being New Zealand radio announcer Grant Kereama.
Lomu's wife Nadene was quoted as saying: "All I can say is my husband is stable and until we know exactly what's wrong, we are not prepared to comment."
The 36-year-old Lomu, who won 63 caps for New Zealand, has played provincial rugby for the Auckland Blues, Counties-Manukau and North Harbour.
Last month he announced he would take on Warriors wing Manu Vatuvei in the boxing ring as part of charity event Fight For Life. The match had been set to take place at Auckland's Trusts Stadium on December 3.
Event organiser David Higgins said a colleague had told him Lomu had a possible health scare but could not confirm the details.
All Blacks manager Darren Shand told the paper he had not been informed about Lomu's condition and had not been planning to tell the players before Saturday night's World Cup game against France.
Lomu had a cameo role in the opening ceremony for the World Cup at Eden Park on September 9 appearing as hero for younger players just starting in the sport.
