Paige, Steyn set for Bok starts at Loftus

Cape Town - Rudy Paige and Morne Steyn are set to be the starting halfbacks for the Springboks against the Wallabies in Pretoria on Saturday.

Kick-off at Loftus Versfeld is at 17:05.

According to Netwerk24, Paige is likely to replace Faf de Klerk, with Steyn coming in for the out-of-sorts Elton Jantjies.

There were rumours earlier this week that Francois Hougaard would be moved from wing to scrumhalf, but coach Allister Coetzee is likely to keep him in the No 11 jersey.

Paige has only been utilised twice as a substitute - and for limited periods - in Coetzee's seven Tests in charge to date.

Willie le Roux could also return at fullback at the expense of Johan Goosen, while Pat Lambie’s inclusion on the bench would see Jantjies drop out of the match-day 23.

With Hougaard in the squad as a scrumhalf option, De Klerk could also miss out altogether.

Coetzee will name his team at 13:00 on Thursday.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
