Newlands to offer day of top-class entertainment

Cape Town - Two former Blitzboks captains, a former Bafana Bafana striker and a former Proteas all-rounder, along with a host of well-known performers will play in a TAG Rugby curtain-raiser as part of the pre-match entertainment at Saturday’s Rugby Championship Test between the Springboks and the All Blacks at Newlands in Cape Town.

As part of a drive to get spectators to their seats early, because of increased safety and security measures, a full programme of pre-match entertainment has been organised for the sell-out crowd. Gates open at 14:00 with the match itself scheduled for 17:05.

Former Blitzboks captains Neil Powell and Paul Delport will be joined in their TAG Rugby match by Benni McCarthy and JP Duminy, as well as artist Chad Saaiman, junior world champion high jumper Breyton Poole, and comedians Siv Ngesi and Nik Rabinowitz, among others.

To provide a bit more rugby acumen, Springbok Women’s Sevens captain Veroeshka Grain and her national team-mate Chané Stadler will also be in action in this match, which kicks off at 15:00.

The national anthems will be sung by the winner of The Voice 2017, Craig Lucas (SA) and well-known local artist Tarryn Lamb (NZ), while there will be more entertainment provided by various dancers - including Cape Town’s very own world champion street-styler Blake Williams - and other artists.

Important safety and security information:

As safety and security will be a priority at this event on Saturday and all spectators will be searched at the gates prior to entry, people attending the Test are urged to plan carefully and gain entry to the stadium early.
