Marx set for Bok bench role

Cape Town - Lions hooker Malcolm Marx is set to be included on the Springbok bench for Saturday’s Rugby Championship Test against the All Blacks in Christchurch.

After impressing for the Lions in Super Rugby, Marx was included in the Springbok Rugby Championship squad, but has yet to earn inclusion in the Springbok match-day 23 during the competition.

But this weekend Marx will be line for a Test debut, with Bongi Mbonambi to lose his spot on the bench.

Willem Alberts, who was recalled into the squad following an injury to Lood de Jager, is also expected to take up a spot on the bench, IOL reports.

In an enforced change to the starting line-up, Pieter-Steph du Toit will replace De Jager in the second row.

Bok coach Allister Coetzee will name his team on Wednesday (19:00 SA time).
