It's not about me - Cooper

Cape Town - Wallabies flyhalf Quade Cooper has stressed that Saturday's Rugby Championship clash with the All Blacks is about the team, not himself.

The 28-year-old, who is named as a starter alongside Will Genia in the half-backs, hasn't played since their World Cup pool win over Uruguay.

But after a 42-8 hammering at the hands of New Zealand, Australia have made changes as Bernard Foley shifts to centre and Cooper is at 10.

"It's not about me against the All Blacks, it's about the Wallabies against the All Blacks, Australia against New Zealand," he told rugby.com.au.

"So, I'm not getting drawn into anything personal.

"I'm not coming over here thinking I need to do anything special to beat the All Blacks. We need to do something as a team and we owe, not only to ourselves, but the public back at home."

Cooper has played for Toulon and Australia's Sevens team in recent seasons and hopes that experience stands him good stead on Saturday.

"I can't say that I'm going to be more consistent or anything like that but I know that every time I put the jumper on I give it everything I've got and this will be no different," he said ahead of lining up against Beauden Barrett.

"I want to go out there and do the best that I can to contribute to the team and get a victory for the team."

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
