Coetzee: Selecting Bosch a 'must'

Cape Town - Springbok coach Allister Coetzee says picking Curwin Bosch for Saturday's Rugby Championship clash against Argentina in Port Elizabeth was a "must".

Bosch has been named on the bench for the clash and is line for a Test debut having turned 20 in June.

He will provide cover at both flyhalf and fullback.

Bosch has had a stellar year with the Sharks, playing in both positions throughout the course of the Super Rugby season - and Coetzee is excited.

"He's a wonderful young talent and it's my responsibility to manage him properly," said Coetzee.

"He's without a doubt a prolific goal-kicker and he covers 10 and 15.

"He is the perfect option on the bench. It's a must ... who else should we have selected?"

Coetzee added that the he was pleased with the depth that he had at flyhalf going into the tournament with Handre Pollard also nearing a return from injury.

Pollard was close to selection this week, but he is expected back for the side's tour to Australasia.

For now, though, Coetzee must place his faith in Elton Jantjies at flyhalf while also giving Bosch the opportunity to gain some experience.

"He is quite mature for a 20-year-old and he has a good head on his shoulders," Coetzee said of Bosch.

"You can see there is a sense of confidence and we need to unlock that more.

"I'm happy with what I've seen and the coaches are happy with what they have seen."

Bosch is the only uncapped player in the Bok squad for Saturday.
