Cape Town - Lock Eben Etzebeth appears likely to start for the Springboks in their Rugby Championship Test against Australia in Brisbane on Saturday.

Etzebeth was on Wednesday included in the Springbok starting XV for the clash at Suncorp Stadium, but team management was uncertain over his availability as he had been laid low by illness all week.

He was given until Friday to recover - and seems to have done just that.

According to Fox Sports rugby commentator Greg Clark, Etzebeth participated in the Bok captain's run on Friday evening (Australian time).

Clark tweeted a picture of Etzebeth training and said the Stormers lock should be ready to face the Wallabies.

Kick-off is at 12:05 (SA time) on Saturday.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
