Durban – Clyde Rathbone will get the opportunity to breathe life into his injury-hampered career when he is restored to the Brumbies’ starting line-up for Saturday’s Super14 clash against the Sharks at the Absa Stadium.
The Wallaby back has been riddled with injuries the last two years, but he will get the opportunity to impress on the left wing.
Rathbone made his Super14 debut for the Sharks in 2002 and played three games before deciding to head Down Under.
The only other change to the starting line-up is the selection of Mitchell Chapman after his recovery from a shoulder injury.
The Brumbies are happy that they can field experienced centre Stirling Mortlock and No 8 Julian Salvi. They sustained light injuries against the Lions, but have been declared fit.
On the substitutes bench Gene Fairbanks and Alfi Mafi are available again after recovering from injuries.
Mortlock’s presence will mean a lot for the visitors. His contribution will determine to a large extent whether his side can cross the advantage line at the back.
The Brumbies have picked eight substitutes and will decide later which one has to be omitted.
The Sharks have also tinkered with the side that played against the Western Force. Once again there are changes in the front row.
Beast Mtawarira and Bismarck du Plessis are back in the starting line-up at the expense of Deon Carstens and John Smit respectively.
Mtawarira and Du Plessis shook off injuries at the start of the series and may not quite be on song yet.
On the bench scrumhalf Charl McLeod replaces Ross Cronjé.
