Pocock re-signs with Wallabies

Melbourne - Australia have moved to strengthen their back row before next year's  rugby World Cup by extending flanker David Pocock's Australian Rugby Union (ARU) contract to the end of the 2012 season.

The Zimbabwe-born 22-year-old will remain at Perth-based Force for the next two Super rugby seasons.

"Pocock will also head into the 2010 international season as the undisputed frontrunner for the test number seven jumper following the international retirement of long-standing ... Wallabies flanker George Smith," the ARU said in a statement.

A finger injury sidelined Pocock for the first half of the Super season, but the 15-Test loose forward has been in strong form since returning, helping the Force to three wins from their last four matches.
