Cape Town - Cheetahs coach Naka Drotské says form - and not reputations - will count when he picks his team for their first Super Rugby clash of the year.
Drotské on Tuesday named a 35-man squad for their training camp in Jeffrey's Bay next week.
He told the Volksblad newspaper that the door is "wide open" and his players have four warm-up matches to prove themselves.
Even those players who have been released to play for the Shimlas in the Varsity Cup could still make their way into the Super Rugby team.
"The spots for places in our starting team for the first Super Rugby tournament are still wide open.
"There are still four warm-up games left. We will pick a team simply on form and not reputations. The guys would need to show their worth in the warm-up games," said Drotské.
They play warm-up games against the Southern Kings, Lions, Stormers and Bulls.
The Cheetahs start their Super Rugby campaign on February 25 against the Lions in Johannesburg.
Cheetahs squad for their training camp: Coenie Oosthuizen, Marcel van der Merwe, Adriaan Strauss, Ryno Barnes, WP Nel, Trevor Nyakane, Lourens Adriaanse, Francois Uys, Andries Ferreira, Izak van der Westhuizen, George Earl, Heinrich Brüssow, Johan Wessels, Juan Smith, Davon Raubenheimer, Justin Downey, Ashley Johnson, Philip van der Walt, Pieter van Zyl, Marnus Hugo, Johan Goosen, Sias Ebersohn, Rocco Jansen, Riaan Smit, Dusty Noble, Rayno Benjamin, Philip Burger, Andries Strauss, Philip Snyman, Robert Ebersohn, Barry Geel, Matthew Rosslee, Jean Stemmet, Hennie Daniller, Willie le Roux.
