Johannesburg - SA Rugby acting managing director Andy Marinos announced on Monday that the possibility of hosting a match between a South African XV and New Zealand Maori in June had been shelved.
“Unfortunately we were unable to identify a commercial partner within the time constraints to make the match commercially viable,” said Marinos. “We would have been delighted to host the Maori but our best efforts to put together a venue and sponsor to cover the costs did not bear fruit.”
The match between a South African XV and Namibia in Windhoek on May 29 will go ahead as scheduled.
