Cape Town - Forgotten Springbok Hilton Lobberts could feature for Western Province in this year's Currie Cup competition, according to a report on Die Burger's website.
The 26-year-old Lobberts, who played two Tests for the Springboks in 2006-07, has been largely inactive on the provincial scene over the last two years.
He can play either flank or lock, which means he could help add valuable depth to the Currie Cup champions. With Eben Etzebeth expected to be involved with the Boks and Andries Bekker heading for Japan, De Kock Steenkamp and Gerbrandt Grobler remain as the only specialist locks.
Loose forwards Michael Rhodes, Don Armand and Rynhardt Elstadt could also be utilised at lock, while Duane Vermeulen and Siya Kolis may also be away with the national team for large parts.
According to SARU, Lobberts last played provincial rugby for WP in the 2012 Vodacom Cup. His current province is listed as Boland.
