Bloemfontein - Springboks discards Heinrich Brussow, Meyer Bosman and Adriaan Strauss can remind the national selectors what they're missing when they run out for Cheetahs against the British and Irish Lions on Saturday.

All three, along with prop Wian du Preez, were in a South African XV which beat a Namibian Invitation side 36-7 last Friday in Windhoek, but none on them made it into the Bok squad for the three-Test series against the Lions.

Flank Brussow's only appearance for South Africa was off the bench in the drubbing of England last November at Twickenham. Strauss, at hooker, played all five of his Tests as a substitute during last year's Tri-Nations. Midfielder Bosman played three Tests in 2005/06.

In the absence of regular captain Juan Smith, who is in the Bok squad, No 8 Hendro Scholtz will lead the Cheetahs at Bloemfontein.

Cheetahs:

Hennie Daniller, Danwel Demas, Corne Uys, Meyer Bosman, JW Jonker, Jacques-Louis Potgieter, Tewis de Bruyn, Hendro Scholtz (captain), Francois Uys, Heinrich Brussow, David de Villiers, Nico Breedt, Kobus Calldo, Adriaan Strauss, Wian Du Preez.

Replacements: Richard Strauss, WP Nel, Frans Viljoen, Kabamba Floors, Gerrie Odendaal, Louis Strydom, Fabian Juries.

YOU LEAVE OUT EARL ROSE. THERE IS ANYWAY TOO LITTLE FRONT RANKERS CHOSEN FOR THE BOKS.

One has to feel sorry for Brussow. What does the oke have to do more… and if you consider the fact that he performed superbly in a team that has really been struggling this season. But the one, I feel was most unfortunate was Adrian Strauss… he has really upped his game and he deserves a shot much more than Chillyboy… Bismark didn’t impress the last couple of games for the Sharks whereas Strauss was awesome!!!!

@anon 11.48; pleeeeeze don't go there boet, we've all been down this, now very boring road of this twatson fella. If he fires on all cylinders, there are few fetchers to compete with Schalk Burger, but after his serious neck injury he has strugled to compete with the Richy Mc Caw's of the world. Heinrich Brussow is the best fetcher in SA at the moment. They leave him out because some say he's not tall enough. Tall is for lineouts in my book, if he can fetch the loose ball and make the tackles, he does not need to be over 6 feet tall. Brussow and Kirchner has been done in the most in this selection. I hope Heinrich play out of his skin on Saturday, in fact he should just play his normal game and he'll shine. Go Cheetahs!!!!!

If the stats are anything to go by Watson outplayed Brussouw in the Stormers / Cheetahs game. Beat him on every stat used to measure a loosies performance. Still I agree we need a fetcher off the bench if Burger goes badly in Brussouw is the man.

With the Cheetahs only missing one of their S14 team, I'm sure they will be a one of the big contenders for the CC. Brussow is unfortunate to not get the nod, he deserved it. I hope he'll stay with the Cheetahs, and not go to another union for more money. This is another player whose services you have to try and retain.

South Africa are very blessed at the moment with loose forwards. Add Hendro Scholtz,Jean Deysel, Baywatch, Dewald Potgieter and a couple of others who would not disgrace a Bok jersey.

i do agree with Nikki - i think Brussouw is very unlucky - especially because i am also an old Grey as he is - but who do you leave out - Juan or Schalk - Schalk did not have a great super 14 but we all know what he is capable of - Danie Rossouw is a yster so are the others - very challenging to be a loose forward here - rather play fullback not even the coach knows who is the best there

The Lions will receive a hiding on Saturday. They must just ask the 1974 Lions what happenned on a cold day in the old Free State Stadium !!!! Go Cheetahs GO !!!!!!!

...of all the players (including Zane) I think Brussow is the unluckiest to be left out of the bok team! He has been FANTASTIC & is in my opinion the best flanker we have in this country at the moment. But as my mate & I discussed last night...Who do you leave out of the bok team to make place for Brussow? Schalk? Juan? Very difficult choice indeed!
