A call to rugby enthusiasts

Port Elizabeth - Tickets for the British & Irish Lions match against the Southern Kings XV on June 16 in Port Elizabeth, goes on sale from Monday, SA Rugby has announced.

The encounter in the newly built Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium is the sixth match of the eagerly awaited Lions tour which comprises ten matches overall, including three Test matches.

Furthermore, the match will also serve as the formal launch of the Southern Kings rugby franchise.

Eastern Cape rugby enthusiasts can now secure their seats to the historic match at R85 and R170 per ticket.

Andre Homan, the SA Rugby project manager for the Lions Tour, has urged rugby supporters in the Eastern Cape to reserve their tickets for the historic match as soon as possible.

"The response from rugby fans was simply outstanding when we launched our overall ticket sales. Tickets are in high demand with as many as 50 000 British and Irish visitors heading to South Africa to witness the rugby spectacle.

"I would therefore like to appeal to supporters in the Eastern Cape to act quickly and book their tickets as early as possible in order to avoid disappointment," said Homan.

Tickets can be bought by calling the Computicket Call Centre on 011 340 8000. The Call Centre operates from Monday to Saturday 8am - 8pm; At Computicket outlets countrywide; In stores at the Money Market counters in all Shoprite, Checkers or Checkers Hyper Stores; Online through the Computicket website at www.computicket.com

Hospitality packages tickets for the Test matches were snapped up within hours after going on sale, but according to Homan, there are still a few remaining hospitality packages available to the public. The Lions arrive in South Africa on May 25 and the tour kicks off on May 30 at the Royal Bafokeng Sports Palace in Phokeng near Rustenburg against the Royal XV. The first Test match takes place on June 20 at the Absa Stadium in Durban.
