Lions unveil new kit

Johannesburg - The Golden Lions Rugby Union has announced a new sponsorship agreement with leading sports brand Canterbury South Africa on their official website.

The iconic rugby brand, whose current contracts range from international teams such as the Springboks, Scotland and England, has agreed to come on board as the official kit and apparel sponsor of the Golden Lions Rugby Union, with immediate effect.

Golden Lions Rugby Union Chief Executive Officer, Manie Booysen, expressed his gratitude for Canterbury’s swift assistance.

“Our negotiations with Canterbury were firmed up within one week and we are so grateful for their support,” said Booysen.

“We believe this agreement will not only benefit both parties but will also benefit our supporters who will be able to purchase replica clothing.

“The players and coaches are also very excited about this new agreement and are looking forward to wearing Canterbury apparel.”

The Golden Lions Rugby Union have thanked outgoing sponsor James Gilbert South Africa for the continuous support they have offered over the past four years.

Gilbert International is currently in negotiations with a new entity and thus could no longer provide the Union’s teams with apparel and kit.

James Gilbert South Africa will, however, remain the official equipment supplier of the Golden Lions Rugby Union.
