Lions lock to join Brumbies

Cape Town - Lions lock Etienne Oosthuizen will join Jake White's Australian Super Rugby side, the Brumbies, later this year.

Oosthuizen has signed a two-year contract and will join his new team-mates on November 1.

Oosthuizen joins Josh Strauss in leaving the Lions franchise in the past week alone.

According to the Volksblad website, Oosthuizen has been lured to Australia with an eye on him qualifying for the Wallabies in due course.

Oosthuizen, who tips the scales at 120kg and measures 1.98m in height, was last year named as one of the Lions' Under-19 players of the year.

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
