Lions duo call it a day

Cape Town - Golden Lions players Michael Bondesio and Deon van Rensburg have announced their retirement from professional rugby.

The duo had been struggling with injuries of late and decided to call it a day, the union announced via their official Facebook page.

Scrumhalf Bondesio had not played much this year due to a knee injury, while wing/centre Van Rensburg was laid low by a rib injury.

Bondesio, 29, played for the Lions since 2011 after joining from the Leopards, while 32-year-old Van Rensburg joined in 2010, also from the Leopards.
