Kurtley Beale to face court

Brisbane - Australian rugby union fullback and flyhalf Kurtley Beale will face court over an assault charge in Brisbane next year following an incident in June involving a bouncer at a city hotel.

A Queensland Justice Department spokesman on Friday confirmed the Wallabies player's case would be heard on February 6. Beale faced court in July for the incident on the morning before an Australia-Wales Test match when he and teammate Quade Cooper were refused entry at the hotel in the early hours of June 8.

The Australian Rugby Union put on hold any disciplinary action against Beale until the police matter was resolved, meaning he remained available for Super rugby and the Wallabies.

Beale will start at No 10 for Australia against England at Twickenham on Saturday.
