Johannesburg - Rory Kockott is "Going home".
The 24-year-old scrumhalf has signed a new contract with the Lions after moving to Durban in 2007, and is one of several Sharks whose path is leading them back to the City of Gold.
He has played in the shadow of Ruan Pienaar and Charl McLeod and there have been rumours for some time that his playing days with the Sharks could be something of the past.
Kockott has not renewed his contract with the Durban team and according to Brian van Zyl, the CEO, Kockott only found a home with the Lions in the last day or two.
"He was with us this week, saying he can't manage anything (with the Lions) and asking if we could help him."
"We were willing to extend his contract by another six months, but the Lions suddenly sent word that they would sign him," said Van Zyl.
Apart from McLeod, who was a member of the Springbok team that played against the Barbarians, the Sharks have also signed up Conrad Hoffman from Western Province.
At the Lions, Kockott will compete for the number nine jersey with Jano Vermaak and Michael Bondesio, who plays for the Leopards.
