Kintetsu Liners confirm signing of Bok duo

Cape Town - Japanese club Kintetsu Liners have confirmed the signing of Springboks Pierre Spies and Damian de Allende, japonrugby.net reports.

Sport24 earlier reported that the duo would head for Japan after this year’s Rugby World Cup, but their exact destination was still unknown.

Spies, 30, will enjoy a short stint in Japan before joining up with former Springbok coach Jake White at Montpellier in France in February next year.

There were rumours that De Allende, 23, would join Stormers coach Allister Coetzee at the Kobe Kobelco Steelers, but the Kintetsu Liners have now been confirmed as his new team.

Good news for Stormers fans though is that the 23-year-old will return to play Super Rugby for the Cape franchise next year - as is the case with many South African Super Rugby players plying their trade in Japan.
