Kings lure midfield journeyman to PE

Cape Town - Midfielder JP du Plessis has opted to join the Eastern Province Kings ahead of this year's Currie Cup.

Du Plessis, 24, previously represented Western Province and the Melbourne Rebels, as well as having a stint in Rugby League with the Sydney Roosters.

He played for Montpellier in France in 2013/14 before joining the Cheetahs last year.

He was listed in Griquas' squad for this year's Currie Cup qualifying tournament, but according to Netwerk24, has opted to head for Port Elizabeth.

The Kings start their Currie Cup campaign at home to the Golden Lions on Saturday, August 8.
