Jerry Collins' daughter in Canada

Cape Town - Ayla Collins, the baby daughter of former All Black Jerry Collins and his partner Alana Madill, is in Canada with her grandparents.

According to the Stuff website, Ayla - now nearly 4-months-old - will most likely need medical treatment for the rest of her life as a result of the car crash that killed both her parents in France last month.

In a statement released on behalf of the Collins and Madill families, family spokesperson Tim Castle said Ayla was now safely in Canada with Madill's parents.

"Current medical opinion is that, sadly, little Ayla will likely suffer ongoing disabilities the full extent of which cannot yet be known. Ayla will need intense ongoing care," Castle said.

Ayla was transferred directly from Montpellier Hospital in France to Winnipeg Children's Hospital in Canada on July 6 and was discharged in to her maternal grandparents care four days later on July 10.

The Collins family will visit Ayla in Canada shortly.
