Edinburgh - Ricky Januarie has replaced Fourie du Preez at scrumhalf in the Springbok starting XV for Saturday's Test against Scotland at Murrayfield due to injury.
Du Preez injured a quadriceps muscle in training and has dropped out of the 22. Januarie's place on the bench has been taken by utility forward Danie Rossouw.
This is a setback for South Africa as Du Preez’s ace tactical kicking game played a big role in taking the pressure off Ruan Pienaar in Cardiff last weekend.
Pienaar, as well as being the starting flyhalf, now finds himself as the back-up scrumhalf, with Ricky Januarie taking over the No9 jersey. Danie Rossouw has been added to the bench in Januarie’s place, so giving them a five/two split between forwards and backs. Frans Steyn will take up the pivot position should Januarie be injured early in the game and Pienaar forced to move to scrumhalf.
Revised Bok team: Conrad Jantjes, JP Pietersen, Adrian Jacobs, Jean de Villiers, Bryan Habana, Ruan Pienaar, Ricky Januarie, Pierre Spies, Juan Smith, Schalk Burger, Victor Matfield, Bakkies Botha, John Smit (captain), Bismarck du Plessis, Beast Mtawirara. Bench: Brian Mujati, Gurthro Steenkamp, Andries Bekker, Danie Rossouw, Ryan Kankowski, Frans Steyn, Jaque Fourie
