Jake White (Gallo)
Cape Town - World Cup winning Springbok rugby coach, Jake White, has put his name behind a scholarship at Jeppe to grow the institution through sport.

Jeppe High School for Boys, in conjunction with former Springbok and IRB World Cup Winning coach and Jeppe old boy, Jake White, have launched the Jake White Scholarship Fund.

The main aim of the foundation is to strategically brand all associated sports scholarships at Jeppe under one brand, namely the Jake White Scholarship Fund.

Jeppe is proud of its holistic approach to education and sport and has to date produced many great sports men for South Africa and other international sports teams as well as a host of leaders of local and global industry and politics. Jake White is one such example of a Jeppe Old Boy going on to become one of the best in the world in his chosen discipline.

The school also incorporates various other scholarship funds within the school to cater for various other sub-categories, including the Theo Jackson Scholarship Fund which serves to ensure an opportunity for young men whose disadvantaged circumstances would normally not afford them an education associated with a school that incorporates the history, traditions and values like those at Jeppe.

The Jake White Scholarship Fund will clearly add weight to these strategies as well as lend an enormous amount of weight to Jeppe’s efforts to attract other elite learners from more senior grades to enroll at the school.

Jeppe have introduced a new recruitment strategy for the school as well as a Recruitment Management Committee which will form part of the management of the Jake White Scholarship Fund. Jake himself will ensure that his influence as a national and global leader in the sports industry as well as his extensive experience in mentoring all levels of sports people forms part of his role in the fund. The school has also appointed representatives from the school’s recruitment department to assist in the management of the fund.

Jake White, who attended the Jeppe, and taught at the school in the 1990’s when Jeppe was regarded to have one of the best rugby schoolboy rugby teams , had the following to say: “It is a fantastic initiative and the potential is there to grow Jeppe as an institution through sport, as well as positively influence the lives of the young men attending the school”.

White clearly sees the need for Jeppe to remain a competitive force in schoolboy sports and is willing to lend his name to the current efforts being made, which includes a substantial amount of money already donated by Jake White himself as part of the initial capital for the fund.
