SA's IRB Sevens - Where now?

Johannesburg - The South African Rugby Union wishes to explain the process involved in the identification of potential host venues for the IRB Sevens Series, following the decision by the Executive Council to invite tenders from all 14 provincial unions.

1.    SARU’s contract with the City of George as host venue runs to the end of 2010 and includes this year’s IRB Sevens Series event.

2.    SARU has been awarded the rights to host a leg of the IRB World Sevens Series from 2011 to 2014.

3.    A hosting venue will be selected from the submitted tenders against the IRB criteria and SARU’s expectations

SARU will formally call for tenders in September.
