Henry to find McCaw a girl
Auckland - Former All Black coach Graham Henry has offered to help Richie McCaw find a girlfriend after the Rugby World Cup-winning captain admitted he was single.
According to the NZ Herald website, Henry hosted an hour-long show on Radio Live on Thursday during which he interviewed McCaw and took questions from the public.
McCaw phoned in and listeners were promised the chance to "learn a little bit about the man, because we know about the All Black captain, but we don't know a lot about the man".
The first question was about McCaw's foot (which is healing well), but Henry soon delivered, putting McCaw on the spot by asking about his relationship status.
"I didn't expect you to ask me this, Ted, crikey," McCaw deflected, only to be pressed by his former coach, "are there several, or is there just the one?"
"No, no, no. There's actually none at the moment ... I'm still on the lookout," McCaw said.
"I'll put an advert out after you come off the air, and I'll let you know ... I think we might have one or two (applicants)," Henry promised.
Henry then went on to take calls from listeners on various topics, including the Blues' current woeful Super Rugby campaign.
When asked about the Blues' current losing streak, he defended the team's performance, saying he didn't think they had played particularly badly in the last game.
"When you're losing five or six in a row, everyone's trying so hard they lose their fluency.
"It's not a problem with people not trying, but a problem with people trying too hard."
