Cape Town - Grant Hattingh is set to make his debut for the Blue Bulls when they face the Golden Lions in a friendly clash at Wits University on Friday night.
Hattingh, who can play either lock, flank or eightman, had a short-term Super Rugby contract with the Lions, but was snapped up by the Pretoria-based union after showing much promise this year. He also played for Maties in the Varsity Cup.
According to the Bulls website, coach Pine Pienaar included him in the squad of 26 players that will play their first warm-up fixture ahead of the Currie Cup season.
Pienaar also included the likes of Deon Stegmann, Rossouw de Klerk and Lionel Cronjé, all players who were injured for most of the season and will benefit from the game time provided.
A few under-21 players - like Ulrich Beyers, Arno Botha and Wiaan Liebenberg - have also been included, indicating Pienaar’s intention to use them during the Currie Cup.
