Griquas lure two former Bulls

Cape Town - Griquas have lured the services of two former Blue Bull centres for the upcoming Currie Cup season.

Volksblad reports that JP Nel and Stefan Watermeyer will report for duty in Kimberley on July 2.

Nel recently played club rugby in Japan for the NTT Communications team.

Watermeyer played Currie Cup rugby for the Blue Bulls last season before heading off to Wales where he recently played for the Ospreys club.

"JP and Stefan will add physicality to our midfield, while JP's experience will be of huge value. They are both contracted for the Currie Cup competition," said Griquas coach Pote Human.

Griquas started their preparations for the Currie Cup when they beat the Griffons 54-33 in a friendly match in Kimberley on Friday night.

They start their Currie Cup campaign away against the Bulls in Pretoria on August 11.

Tries: Hansie Graaff, Reinhardt Erwee, PW van Vuuren, Charles Marais, Philip Burger.

Conversions: Tiaan van Wyk (2), Erwee, Tertius Maarman.
